How we keep it safe
Random chat only works if people feel OK showing up. Here's exactly what runs on every match.
- Age check before anyone chatsYou enter your birth year first. Under-13s are blocked, and 13–17s and adults are matched in separate pools.
- Faces start hiddenYour face is covered by an emoji for the first 15 seconds of every match. It's on by default.
- Nudity detectionAn on-device AI model scans both cameras. Suspected nudity from the other person gets blurred, and showing it yourself gets you suspended, for longer each time.
- Report and skipA flag button on every chat sends a report to moderation and moves you on straight away.
- No recording of minorsChats with anyone under 18 are never recorded or clipped.

Is Buzzaboo free?
Yes. Random video chat on Buzzaboo is free, with no account and no app. Buzzaboo may show ads. An optional Premium plan ($4.99/month) adds gender and region filters and priority matching.
Do I need an account or an app?
No. Buzzaboo runs in your web browser on phones, tablets and computers. Tap Start, allow your camera, and you're matched. An account is optional and only saves your preferences.
Is Buzzaboo an Omegle alternative?
Yes. Omegle shut down in November 2023. Buzzaboo offers the same kind of one-on-one random video chat in the browser, with extra guardrails: separate teen and adult pools, your face hidden for the first 15 seconds of each match, Safe Mode nudity blurring, and a report button on every chat.
Who can use Buzzaboo?
Anyone 13 or older. You enter your birth year before chatting. People aged 13 to 17 are only matched with other 13 to 17 year olds, and adults are only matched with adults. Under-13s can't use Buzzaboo.
Will I always be talking to a person?
Not always. When nobody in your age pool is free, Buzzaboo may connect you with an AI character in text chat so you're not left waiting, and it keeps looking for a person in the background. For 13 to 17 year olds the AI is always clearly labeled. Adults can play Human or AI? and guess which one they got.
How do I report someone?
Tap the flag button during any chat, pick a reason, and you're moved on to someone new. Reports are saved for our moderation review. For anything involving a child in danger, also contact the NCMEC CyberTipline or your local police.
Does Buzzaboo record my chats?
Chats with anyone under 18 are never recorded. Adults may have short highlight clips captured for the public Clips feed unless they turn on Go Private, and clips only include sound when both people agree.
What does Premium add?
Premium costs $4.99 a month. It adds gender and region filters, priority when several people are waiting, and removes ad slots. You can cancel in one click on the Premium page.
